Halfway Pond Winter Hike

A winter walk through the pine barrens around Halfway Pond

Details
Join me for an afternoon walk to start the New Year. We will walk an easy 5-6 miles around the woods and cranberry bogs of Halfway Pond. The walk will be on back dirt roads and trails through the Halfway Pond Conservation Area, the newly aquired conservation areas on the pond's south shore, and along the Agawam River. With most of it's 4 mile shoreline protected, Halfway Pond and the adjoining conservation areas encompass the largest protected area on the South Shore. After the walk we can hed to downtown Plymouth for something to eat and to explore the historic waterfront.
Directions
Directions: We will meet at the Long Pond Boat Ramp. Take Route 3 south to Exit 3 (Clark Road). At the end of the ramp head west (a right if you are coming from the north, a left if you are coming from the south on Route 3.) Clark Road quickly comes to a stop sign at it's intersection with Long Pond Road. Go diagonally to the left across Long Pond Road and continue on Clark Road. When it ends look to your left and you will see Long Pond. Head left towards the pond on West Long Pond Road. The parking area for the boat ramp will be on your right.
