About this event

10-11am: We'll visit the Southern Vermont Art Center's Annual Craft Fair to see & possibly buy some of the most interesting & creative local arts & crafts in the region.

11am-1pm: Then we'll take the Woodlands Hike through an outdoor sculpture garden and onto the spectacular Equinox Pond and its usually stunning views. This is a fairly easy out & back hike with some elevation gain & loss, lots of views, forest, & wetlands.

NOTE: You don't have to attend the craft fair in order to do the hike.

CAMPUS DIRECTIONS : There’s a very long driveway that begins from the entrance on West Road to the top of the hill where The Southern Vermont Art Center is located and where a large parking lot can be found. As you drive up the hill, you will be driving through the sculpture garden, no parking is permitted along the main driveway.

Park in the lot at the top of the hill. The craft fair is located in one of several buildings at the top of the hill.

HIKE STARTING POINT: The hike begins at the giant totem pole located just beyond the parking lot, further up the hill in a grassy area. From the totem pole one is able to clearly see the beginnings of the trail that leads to the walking path and a large sign showing where that path is.

AFTER-HIKE LUNCH: Please join us for lunch after the craft fair & hike at Charlie's Coffee & Cafe 1:15-2:30pm.

WHAT TO BRING: Rain gear, Good hiking footwear, water, snacks, hiking poles (if you have them), & layer in case we encounter unexpected wind. On the morning of the hike, please check the weather for the hike location before you leave home so you know current conditions and how to dress for them. Please let us know your cell phone number when you register so we can text you 2 hours before the event should an unexpected weather threat arise that causes us to have to cancel the activity.

HOW TO REACH US THE DAY OF THE HIKE: Led my John R. (610-733-4157), Mitch (413-717-7816), or Bart (503-734-6508)
