The trip report

Written by dnaturist

We had nice weather for this hike. Three of us participated in the hike. Most of the ascent and descnet was done under a tree canopy with limited views. The walk along the ridgeline traversed the unofficial eastern continental divide and was rocky with many rock outcrops and some views.

While walking along the shaded portion of the ridge line we came across many piles of stones, where farmers had stacked them  aside in order to farm the land.

About this event

The 10.4 mile hike begins at Sinking Creek and ends at Craig Creek Valley. At about .7 miles into the hike we begin our ascent of about 1500 ft. After another .7 miles we will reach the crest of Sinking Creek Mountain. Following the crest over the next 5.2 miles we should get some good views. Then we will begin our descent of 2000 ft over the next 3.8 miles to the end of the hike.

Driving time to trailheads should be 1 hour and 16 minutes.

This will be a clothing optional hike.

We will be leaving the Angel's Rest Hiker's Haven for the trailheads at 8:00 AM sharp.
