The trip report

Written by Twigs

When we arrived at the mountian around 0830hr the top was cover in a blanket of fog. as we waited for the eniter gorup to show up, we started to hike around the 0920hr, the fog had burnt off and was going to be a wonderful day for a hike. As we made it up the start of the stage coach trail and entered the windmill farm, the group was amazed that you are able to walk right up the the base of the 2 windmills and see how large these items really are. We contiunted down the detour trail back to harring, where some of the rocks were still slippers due to the morning fog and a possiable over night rain shower. As we made our way up Harrington we stop as needed and some hikers took a side trail to a rock ledge for a quick overlook of the windmills and the valley below. Once at the top everony had a quick bit to eat, saw the sights, then proced to head down Pine Hill Trail. Once at the bottom of that we entered Bicentenial trail which is a rock scramble style trail that goes around the base of the Mountian. This drops you at High Meadow, Where the Group Photo was taken of us by a passing hiker. We conitued down to Echo Lake, and onto Echo Lake trail, thank back to the cars. We ended the hike around 1320hrs.

I belived it was a 4hr hike enjoyed by all member of the group. I will have to post another hike with differnt trails for this area again.

About this event

Starting at Stage Coach Trail head, this is the most popular trail head, we will head up to the windmills using a small side detour. then using another detour of the back side of the windmills take harrington traill to the top. this is the hardest part of the climb as it is the most direct route up. we will take breaks as needed playing mark-o Polo. After resting at the top we will head down to Pine hill trail to the bicentennial Trail joining up with the High meadow Trail and finally taking a 2nd break at Echo Lake.  Upon leaving here we shall follow Echo Lake Road to Echo Lake Trail which will place us back at the Cars.

We will be meeting up at 0900HRs and heading out by 0920HRs

Total Distance: 4.06 miles

*** IF YOU HAVE PARKED MORE TOWARDS THE MIDSTATE / HARRINGTON TRAIL HEAD:
Here you can either walk back down Westminster road to you cars, or  take the gravle road back to the windmills, the same side detour to Harrington, but instead of going up head down the trail and that will bring you to your cars as well.
If Taking the Trail back: 4.34 miles

**** Bring water and your own snacks,  this is more of a enjoyable hike than a death march. Ill be at the trail head in my small black car with the kayaking roof rack. Ill have my camo water bag. off to the side looking like im wating for a massive group of ppl to show up. :)

this route looks to be about an 850ft elevation gain. If interested in a carpool from the Boston area, I can take up to 4 guys + gear, drop me an email if interested

If the event needs to be rescheduled due to forecasted rain, I can't make it on Saturday, 9/17, but I am free (as of now) for Sunday, the 25th.

Who is up for doing the hike with the possibly of getting caught in the rain? As the weather stabd right now. It will be cloudly in the morning turing with showers, then a steady rain later in the afternoon.

As of now (4:30pm Wed 14 Sept) the Princeton MA forecast for 18 Sept is back to "sun and clouds mixed", with a "stray shower or t-storm possible". I'm willing to roll those dice.

So we are gonna stay with the hike being on Sunday. The only change is instead of starting at 10am, I would like to move the start time to 9am. Thus giving us more chance of sun shine.

Thanks Jason. I will see you a bit before 9 on Sunday. I am anxious to see the detours around the windmill farm. Thanks for your efforts.

hey Mr Twigs. At the moment Bob and Joel will be carpooling with me. Bob will be bringing Joel to my house from which I will proceed to the trailhead. I currently have 2 more available seats for anyone else who would like to ride along, just be able to drive out to north Wayland and I'll drive the rest of the way
