About this event

After an amazing start to the summer, please come and join in a SECOND weekend of camping and adventures at Mountainside Campground, located in southeastern (Hinsdale) New Hampshire. This weekend’s focus will be a MODERATE TO STRENOUS hike on Mount Ascutney via the Windsor and Brownville Trails. Excellent views including an observation tower.

The campground provides a variety of options including tent and camper sites, cabins, and a bunkhouse. Hot showers and cooking space is also available. All reservations and funds for the campground will go through the campground owner and NOT the leader of this activity. Please contact Mountainside directly regarding reservations. Contact info listed below.

Email: www.mountainsidenh.com

Phone: 603-398-7871

Day-tippers are more than welcome to join us at the trail head parking lots. Contact trip leader directly for details.

This weekend will provide an opportunity to explore nature. There are several adventure options which include…

  • Guided hike up Mt Ascutney that will be MODERATE to STRENUOUS (Pace, elevation gain and distance).  Total distance is 6 miles with 3100 ft at highest elevation.
  • If you wish to lead a hiking group, please contact. Additional leaders are VERY welcome to join and lead groups.
  • Self-guided, resources will be available for those who wish to seek solitude or more challenging hikes.
  • Not a hiker? Many back roads through rural NH and VT. Maps and suggestions are available for “site seeing” adventures.
  • Several local swimming options including “gay friendly” locations. For more information visit Gay Outdoors “swimming holes in Vermont”. Hiking groups might consider a visiting or meeting up after a good wilderness adventure.
  • Guided night hikes around Mountainside. Exploring nature up close and in the dark.
  • Potluck/cook out/campfire on Saturday night. Several cooking options are available at Mountainside along with refrigerators for storage.

Participants can arrive Friday evening and settle in. Guided adventures will be scheduled for 9am Saturday, rain or shine.

Any questions, suggestion or concerns please email directly.

So I just called the number and the call dropped. I sent an email a while back, is this Tent/RV sites only? thinking if they have a cabin, I would rather rent for the 2 nights, in case of rain. Any help is appreciated!

Ginger, tried email again. Yes tent sites, cabin and rv options. I am tenting myself, several cabin options. Great place, hike will be fun too, but other options available. Let's chat some how. JT.

Hello:

This will be my first time with the group.

I most likely will be staying nearby. Do they allow guests to hang out with patrons at the site?

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Yikes! Does anyone have driving directions? I don't know anyone in the group, but despite registering with Mountainside (and having been there once a few years back), I never got directions! Looking forward to the weekend, assuming I don't get lost! If anyone can share directions, you can text me at 774 722 2962 to respect their policy of not posting the location online. Thanks!
