We will be hiking a six peak circuit in Acadia National Park.  We will summit Bald Peak, Parkman Mountain, Gilmore Peak, Sargent Mountain, Penobscot Mountain and Cedar Swamp Mountain.  The area we will be hiking is located between Somes Sound and Jordan Pond (off of route 3).  In spots this hike is very rocky & rooty.  There are areas which are very steep – but are somewhat short in length.

Estimated Distance:  6.7 mile loop -  covering 6 mountain summits.

Estimated time (with lunch):   6 hours

Elevation gain:  2110 ft

HIKE DETAILS:

From route 3 take the Hadlock Brook Trail – take a left to Bald Peak (1 mile)

Hike Bald Peak to Parkman Mountain (.3 miles)

Next we’ll take the Grandgent trail from Parkman to Gilmore (.5 miles)

From Gilmore Peak we will hike to Sargent Mountain (.7 miles)

From Sargent Mountain we travel to Penobscot (1.4 miles)  - via East Cliffs Trail (.8 miles) then right on Deer Brook Trail for (.5 miles) then to the summit (.1 mile)

Next we’ll go from Penobscot Mountain to Cedar Swamp Mountain (1.1 mile) – we’ll retrace our hike to the Deer Brook Trail (.1 mile) - take the Penobscot Tail to the junction of the Sargent South Ridge trail (.2 miles). Take a left on the Sargent South Ridge Trail for .7 miles (away from Sargent Mountain).  From the Amphitheater Trail junction we will continue on the trail to the summit in about .1 miles.
