Mt. Sunapee Hike

Join Neil B. for a hike to the summit of Mt. Sunapee in Newbury, NH. We’ll hike the two mile (one way) Summit Trail, an elevation gain of approximately 1600 feet. If there’s time and interest, we’ll make a side trip to the Lake Solitude overlook, an additional 1-1/2 miles round trip. This is a “moderate” hike, OK for novice hikers. (We won't be setting any speed records! :) Once at the summit, we'll have lunch. Bring a lunch and/or snacks, water, sunscreen, sturdy footwear, and layered clothing, including a hat and gloves. In early October it could be quite brisk at the summit—especially if it's windy—but considerably warmer at lower altitudes.

If there's interest, we'll go out for a late afternoon snack or early dinner after the hike. While masks are not required during the hike, we'll try to maintain a reasonable social distance. Nevertheless, be sure to have a mask with you. You'll need that to go inside any store or restaurant. Meeting time: 10:45 a.m.; we'll set out at 11.

Also, re. masks: I think we all should wear them, at least initially. As the hike progresses, if we start to break up into smaller, socially distant groups, masks may not be as necessary (though I still encourage them).
