Unusual late season 4 inch snowfall on the North Rim! Hike was pleasant and cool. Lots of waterfalls. Cactus and century plants blooming. This 24 mile hike took about 13 hours.

About this event

Join me on one of America's most scenic and challenging day hikes: from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to the South Rim- about 22 miles of non-stop breathtaking scenery.  Starting at dawn, we will descend about 6000 feet (15 miles) to Phantom Ranch and stop for lunch.  After a refreshing dip in the Colorado River, we will ascend 5300 feet (7 miles) to the South Rim using the Bright Angel trail. This hike usually takes about 10-14 hours depending on weather conditions- (we might need to delay the ascent at Phantom Ranch until the day begins to cool off if temps are exceeding 95F.)  Logistics and lodging can be worked out with anyone interested- please email me with questions.
