About this event

Let’s start the year with fresh air and the outdoors and hike the Gator Hook Trail, in the Big Cypress Preserve.  The entire trail is 4.75 miles round trip, and we can do as much as possible.

Please wear footwear you can afford to get muddy, and also bring a second pair to change into after the hike.  You also need to bring lunch and/or snacks, sun protection, sufficient water, your camera and a hand towel to sit on, if you so desire, while stopping for lunch.

The Gator Hook Trail is located off of Loop Road (Country Road 94), and Loop Road is located 4.9 miles west of the Oasis Ranger Park Station.  The Oasis Ranger Park Station is located at 52105 Tamiami Trail East, Ochopee, Florida  34141 – (239) 695-1201.  The starting point of Loop Road is addressed as 50940 Loop Road Big Cypress National Preserve, Ochopee, Florida  34141.

Anyone interested in carpooling with Rene, departing from Wilton Manors at 6:45 a.m., may do so.  If you travel with me be mindful that I am a non-smoker.
