The trip report
Written by dnaturist
This was a 9.4 mile hike in beautiful weather. Sunshine and pleasant temperatures. We got some great views, but no color. All of the forests were still green.
Three of us did the hike.

About this event
This will be an 8.1 mile, one way north to south hike on the AT. It will require an auto shuttle.
The beginning of the the hike will give us a view of Roan Mountain. The hike will start off with an ascent of about 900 feet, during the first mile of the hike, to Little Rock Knob, the highest point on the hike. From Little Rock Knob the trail will be mostly downhill for the rest of the hike, losing about 1200 feet over the next 7 miles.
The hike will have a few rocky ups and downs. At about 7.5 miles we will ascend the last ridge on this hike. The pretty valley to the northwest holds Limestone Cove, the birthplace of Davey Crockett. The valley also holds Greenville, named for Nathaniel Greene, and the home of President Andrew Johnson.
Plan of being on the trail for about 5 to 6 hours.
