The trip report
Day dawned bright and clear and promised to be a great late-summer hiking day. A wonderful group of GO members gathered @ 11AM and began the grueling ascent of Mt Morgan. After scaling wooden ladders and crawling through a cave, we arrived at the cliffs with terrific views south to Squam Lake, Lake Winnepesaukee and surrounding mountains and enjoyed lunch. Then traversed the ridge to Mt Percival for more great views - both natural scenery and some other male hikers out for the day. Steady decent with good comraderie all along the way - a perfect day.

About this event
Please join me for this 5.5 mile loop hike of Mts Morgan & Percival. The 2200' peaks sit above Squam Lake and afford spectacular views south to Squam and Lake Winnepesauke after a 1500' elevation gain. It's a short, challenging hike but well worth the effort for the views. We'll ascend via the Mt Morgan trail, traverse the ridge on the Crawford-Ridgepole trail to Mt Percival where we'll have lunch above the cliffs and then descend the Mt Percival trail back to the parking lot. Should be down between 3 & 4PM.
