The trip report
2 of us set out about noon after a wet morning - a word to the wise - weather this time of year can change and yesterday's forecast was decent - this morning the forecast indicated wet weather between 10AM and noon so I contacted the folks I knew were hiking that we were pushing things back an hour to noon - someone who had not signed up for the hike showed up at 11 and no one was there - had I known he was interested I would have also let him know about the time change - anyway the sun was out for most of the hike, the temps were high 60's to low 70's and it felt great to be naked in the woods - sorry there are no pics - I searched all over this morning for the camera and assumed I had stuck it somewhere after the last hike and would find it when I was relaxed and not turning things inside out - and I did - at the end of the hike in the backpack right where it is supposed to be. LOL - some days are better than others - we ended the day in Asheville at the Sky Bar followed by a delicious meal at Tupelo Honey's

About this event
A friend in Asheville and I are going to hike on July 6th – it should be remote enough to do most, if not all, naked – we are going to get an early start and the best place to meet is at a trail head for the Big Butt Hike – we are not going to do that trail but that’s a decent sized parking lot on the Blue Ridge Parkway so if several fellows decide to attend there will be plenty of parking. Meet there at 10:00AM sharp – it is at the Walker Knob Overlook and if your GPS does not recognize that try 3641 Blue Ridge Parkway – Walker Knob overlook is not too far north of Craggy Gardens, which is at mile post 364.
If you can attend let me know so we will wait for you if you are a minute (maybe 2 but no more <smile>) late. This will be a moderate hike with some elevation gain (up) and loss (decent) and will be an in and out hike so each gain or loss will be reversed going back to the cars. Bring water and something to snack on as leaving that early makes a sandwich (or something with mayo) suspect by eating time. Wear loose shorts or something that can go on easy over shoes – I have a kilt so shoes are not an issue nor is keeping balance while in a hurry to get it on – I also use a loin cloth (a UNC rally towel which I can put on the abdominal strap on the pack) as that’s even easier than the kilt. I’ll put the kilt on in a high traffic area, like crossing a road or in a parking lot – but the loin cloth is typically it for the trail.
