Mount Cardigan hike

Join us for this loop hike to Mount Cardigan from the Cardigan State Park in Canaan. From the granite ledges along the route, this hike affords great views for a modest effort. The hike is 3.6 miles round trip with an elevation gain of about 1200 feet. If there's sufficient interest, we'll extend the trip 1.2 miles by continuing on to the Firescrew summit 0.6 miles away. (Those who prefer may remain at the Cardigan summit.) Our ascent will take us up the West Ridge Trail to the South Ridge Trail, passing Rimrock and South Peak. We'll complete our ascent via the Clark trail to the Mount Cardigan summit, where we'll stop for lunch. We'll return from Firescrew via Cardigan, picking up those who stayed behind. Then we'll descend entirely via the West Ridge trail. In the event of rain, the hike will be canceled or rescheduled. Watch for details as the date approaches.
