The trip report

We had a great day canoeing 12 miles on the Delaware.  Only 6 of the 12 showed up - myself, Charlie, Henry, Ed, and the two guys from Ithaca (Keith and Greg, I think?), but we all had a great time.  Dinner at Rainbow Mountain afterwards.

About this event

Enjoy peaceful canoeing along the most pristine part of the Delware River within the Delware Water Gap.  This is a beautiful wilderness-like stretch of river – we can explore Minisink Island in the middle.  This trip is for those of you who prefer a quieter, wilderness experience than the thrill of whitewater rafting.  We will canoe the 12 mile stretch from River Beach to Dingmans Ferry, which should take about 5 hours.  We will meet at Dingman’s base (see directions at http://kittatinny.com/directions/), where we will be shuttled by Kittatinny Canoes to River Beach and canoe back to our cars.  Rates are $45 per person (or slightly less if we have more people).  We are meeting at 10 am because it will take time to get the canoes and be driven to our starting point.  Bring ziplock bags or trash bags to keep things dry, water and lunch (no glass), old sneakers or sandals with straps, bathing suit, raingear, towel, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, and change of clothes for later.  Please first let me know if you would like to come.  As long as we have a minimum number of people, I will then have you go directly to the web site of Kittatinny Canoes to make your reservations.  We will plan to go out afterwards for dinner.

Hi everyone. We have enough to make this a go! I need to know how many people need canoe or kayak rentals - John mentioned he has a couple more. So, please let me know if you need to rent, and if you prefer a canoe (2-3 people per canoe - we can divy that up at the time), or kayak (1 person). I need to deposit $10 per person, so I need to get a count.

If you are interested in coming and need to rent a canoe, please call Kittatiny Canoes at 18003562852 and pay $10 nonrefundable deposit. Tell them it is for June 21, starting at 10 am at Dingmans Ferry, on route from River Beach to Dingmans.

I tried "Send Email to All Participants" several times, but some people did not receive. Please read message below and contact Kittatinny Canoes to reserve your spot.

Hey everyone. For those who are interested, we'll plan to goto Rainbow Mountain for dinner (it's in the Water Gap south of Dingman's Ferry). They have a nice restaurant there. There is also a gay bar we can goto afterwards to hang out.

I have made dinner reservations for 15 people for 6 pm at Rainbow Mountain. It will probably be an exciting day at the resort, because the Lehigh Valley Takeover is having a Pool Party there with a DJ starting at 3. Of course, we will miss most of that, but I'm sure a lot of people will be hanging out for dinner and the bar afterwards.

Hey guys - just posted the trip report with some photos. Half of you were no shows - I would have appreciated notification ahead of time that you were not planning to attend. But the 6 of us who were there had a great time.
