About this event

This hike is for GO members who are going to register for and attend the July 12-14, 2013 NH GO Gathering in Campton, NH. You don't have to be currently registered for the Gathering to sign up for this hike now, but you should plan on being registered for the Gathering before the hike starts to be allowed to attend. This will be a dog friendly hike although you don't need to have a dog to attend, you'll just not have to mind them being off leash during the hike. If you have a dog bring a leash just in case and enough water for both you and your dog. We will hike the Welch-Dickey Loop Trail a 4.5 mile hike over Welch Mountain and Dickey Mountain. We will do the loop in a counterclockwise direction summiting Welch Mtn. first and then Dickey Mtn. By the time we summit Dickey Mtn. we will have hiked 2.5 miles with a 1,650' elevation gain. We will have lunch on Dickey Mtn. on a large flat area that is about 0.2 miles off the main trail. Besides your own lunch lets each bring a few extra snack/dessert type items to share with a few other people for a sort of dessert pot luck just to make the hike more interesting. The great thing about this hike is that besides the wonderful views you can look ahead to see where you are going and also look back to see where you have been. Here is a link you can copy and past into your browser to get a hike preview if you have never been on this hike. It will also give you an idea of if you are up to doing this hike for the challenges it presents. http://www.meetup.com/Manchester-Doggie-Paws/photos/8724702/ Due to all the bare ledges and bare rocky steep slopes at times rainy weather would cancel this hike.

The trail head is very near where you have to pay your $3 parking fee if you don't already have a parking pass.
