Perfectly perfect dog hike!

The trip report

Peter , Tim , Ben , River , TJ , Brad and Daphne all enjoyed a wonderful late morning hike up North Pack Monadnock.  Three humans and 4 dogs.  It was a perfect morning for a hike , not too hot , not too cold.  Just right for humans and canines! The dogs all enjoyed each others company and were well behaved , as were all three of their masters. We met several other canines on the trail as this is a very dog friendly trail.  So lots of fun interaction with dogs and people and a great start to the day!  Thanks to Tim and Peter for showing up as planned , it certainly makes it much more enjoyable when people actually do what they promise to do.  Thanks guys!!  I can't wait to do it again.  :-)

About this event

This will be an easy hike , listed as moderate since there is a small section of rock scramble we must go up.  North Pack Monadnock  , not to be confused with Mt. Monadnock! ( which doesn't allow dogs ) , is North of Pack Monadnock also known as Miller State Park.  North Pack has no rangers and is known to be dog friendly.  I have climbed this section many times and have always come upon others with their dogs.  Your dog , IF trained properly , can even be off leash on this trail!

We will meet at my house since parking is limited and not easy to find.  Then we will carpool to the North side of North pack and hike up to the top. This is a short hike up , about 2 miles i believe , taking about 30 minutes , depending upon how often we stop. At the top we can relax and decide if we want to go further on down the other side of North pack and then up the North side of Pack ; up to Miller State Park. This would take  about an hour more.  If we do , your dog will need to be leashed once we reach the park.  We can have lunch there. ( bring a bag lunch please! )  Then go back down and over and up North pack then back down to the car.

So if the group decides to go to Miller State park then this hike will be about 2 to 3 hours long , walking time.  My 80 year old Dad did this hike with me so it's not too difficult! All are invited back to my house for a dip in my pool and socializing ; my 10 acres are completely fenced in so your dog is free to run around.  Please do not bring your dog if you can't keep it from jumping in my pool! Vinyl liners and dog claws don't mix well.
