About this event

Southwest Corridor Park is a 3.9-mile linear park through the Boston neighborhoods of South End, Roxbury, and Jamaica Plain. A recreation and commuter route popular with walkers, runners, and cyclists, the corridor is a triumph of its surrounding communities, which rallied in the 1960's to prevent a 12 lane highway from flanking a subway line and instead created this 52-acre green space. The park parallels the Orange line between the Back Bay and Forest Hills T-stations.

The northern trailhead is across from the Back Bay T-station on Darthmouth Street,  This is where we will meet at 11am.

Endpoints: Back Bay T-station to Jamaica Plain, Boston

Mileage: 3.9 (7.8 miles for those doing a round trip walk) you are welcome to take the orange line back from the Forest Hills station

Surface: asphalt

The trail ends just across Washington street from the Forest Hills station, though depending on the consensus of the group we could extend this walk into Arnold Arboretum, across South Street to the right of the station. The Arboretum is part of landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead's famous Emerald Necklace, a 1100-acre chain of parks that offers an alternative walking or bike route downtown.

Please be advised that rain will cancel this event. As of today, the long range forecast is calling partially sunny skies w/ temps in the mid 40's.

Looking forward to the walk Friday morning. Weather looks to be partly sunny in the low 30s. If the group is up for extending the walk to Arnold Arboretum, would anyone want to break for lunch? There are a few places to eat right near Forest Hills Station.
