About this event
Before I tell you how awesome this hike is, some ground rules.
1) This hike is 12 miles look and we will gain 4000 feet of elevation. It's a VERY HARD hike and if you've never done anything at this level, please don't sign up.
2) This is a social group to meet other gay men and lesbians who enjoy longer, hard hikes. If you are only going because you think your out of shape BFF might come with you, please don't sign up. Had people drop out at the last minute because their friends won't come.
3) You must come with at least 2 liters of water, rain gear, appropriate footgear, possible windbreaker, food and dayhiking basics. If you show up with a tiny bottle of water and no other gear, you are putting yourself in danger and will not be allowed on the hike.
4) We will hike at a moderate to fast pace. We will not stop every mile to rest. If you are slow, prone to injuries, out of shape, or otherwise don't think you can handle hiking at 2.5-3 MPH, please do not sign up.
5) Sorry about all the rules, but we are only as fast as our slowest hiker and it's a lot more enjoyable if we aren't wating for one person. All these are based on previous experiences.
OK THE FUN STUFF
Join Us To Enjoy the Fall Foliage, 6 Waterfalls, and the Highest Vista in Shenandoah National Park!Whiteoak Canyon, Cedar Run Loop, Plus The Highest Vista in SNP with a 360 Degree View, Hawksbill Summit! A Strenuous 12 Mile Hike!
This hike combines trails and will involve streams, waterfalls and the highest point in Shenandoah National Park (SNP) (Hawksbill Summit = 4,050 ft) with 360 degree views. It's hard to keep track of all the falls at Whiteoak Canyon. There are six sequentially numbered falls, starting from the Blue Ridge and ending down at the base of the canyon. Whether or not you correctly number the falls, take this classic Shenandoah hike, for there are not only falls but also canyon views and everywhere-you-look beauty.
WE WILL ALSO HIKE 12 MILES AND GAIN ALMOST 4000 FEET. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS.
There is a fee to enter the park. If you carpool, you will have to pay the driver gas money and share the park entry fees.
