About this event
Enjoy a beautiful float trip down the pristine Broad River just east of Athens, Georgia. This is a good river for novice whitewater canoeists, with several class I-II rapids. The pace will be leisurely, with stops along the way for swimming and sunning. There is optional overnight camping at a "family" campground nearby. ***Note that this trip is rated strenuous – you must have enough upper body strength to control your craft.
The cost is $20 to rent a kayak or half a canoe from the outfitter. If you have your own boat there is a portage fee of around $7. There is a suggested donation of $1-2 to the Broad River Watershed Association in lieu of a parking fee. That's the total cost of the trip!
This trip is also on the Wilderness Network of Georgia calendar.
