About this event
Join us for this easy to moderate short hike of about 4 miles with 400 feet of elevation to a series of beautiful cascades and waterfalls in Waterville Valley, and then to a great viewpoint of Mount Osceola and Mount Tecumseh.
As of 4/3, there was still a considerable snowpack in the woods (even if it may not look like it right where we start), so you should probably bring along snowshoes or crampons just in case.
We will start at the Lower Snow's parking lot, the old downhill ski area at Waterville Valley. This is right past the Waterville Valley golf course, and there is still a chairlift that runs in summer. We will start on the Cascade trail, walking past some houses and crossing the road a few times. We will cross the Lower Snow's ski trail, and then the Cascade trail shortly comes to the series of cascades and waterfalls. This trail ends at the Upper Snow Mountain cross country ski trail, and we will walk up to the top (by the top of the chairlift), where there is a beautiful view of Mount Osceola and Mount Tecumseh. Depending on conditions, we will then either descend down the ski slope to the parking lot or we will take Elephant rock trail back to the Cascade trail to the parking lot.
