Ski, Snowshoe Weekend in Southern VT

Based on the comments, it is safe to say that everyone had a great time this weekend! Frog Meadow Bed & Breakfast in Newfane VT was the perfect place to get away from the weeks’ stress and to get outside for skiing and snowshoeing. Lee and Darick arrived Friday afternoon and were joined later by Richard and James. The first evening was spent with light snacks, time in the hot tub, and sitting in front of the fireplace.

Saturday morning, the four of us headed over to Grafton Ponds Nordic Center where Richard and James enjoyed XC skiing and Lee and Darick took off on their snow shoes. We certainly needed the exercise after a fantastic full breakfast of granola, fresh fruit, pancakes and bacon provided by Dave and Scott!

After a couple of hours and lunch break, Richard and James went back to Grafton Ponds for some snow shoeing while Darick and Lee headed back to hang out by the fire and wood-fired hot tub. Two other Frog Meadow guests (Kevin and Christopher) joined our GO group in time for a light happy hour snack.

Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, Dave served a home cooked dinner of green salad, turkey chili, cornbread, and bread pudding. Yum! The rest of the evening was spent with lots of good conversation, laughter, more hot tub, and movies on the big screen TV.

The last day, Sunday, we were again greeted by one of Dave’s breakfasts (French toast), and we all packed our bags and said goodbye’s with promises of meeting again at future GO events.

Many thanks to our hosts, Scott & Dave at Frog Meadow for providing us with such a comfortable and friendly place (not to mention the great food) for this event.

I have coordinated with Dave and Scott from Frog Meadow Bed & Breakfast in southern VT to block out the entire weekend for a GO members getaway.

We can arrive late afternoon/early evening Friday March 4^th and stay through Sunday afternoon March 6^th.

Lodging Frog Meadow has 4 separate rooms with a total of 3 queen-size and 2 king-size beds, so the event is limited to a maximum of 10.

Our “GO weekend getaway package price” is based on double occupancy (two people sharing a queen- or king-size bed); note that a single occupancy option is available, see below.

·         We will start the weekend after dinner (on your own) on Friday night with a fireside welcome and social.

 

·         Saturday and Sunday mornings will start with a full country breakfast.

 

·         On Saturday and Sunday, participants can break off into groups and decide how they would like to spend the day. There are over 60 acres with trails for snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing at Frog Meadow. They are also very close to Mount Snow and Stratton for alpine skiing/boarding and Prospect/Grafton/Wild Wings for groomed XC skiing and XC equipment rentals.

 

·         Saturday evening we will all get back together for chips & dip/BYOB happy hour followed by a casual home-cooked “localvore” buffet dinner prepared by Dave. A vegetarian option will be available. Post-dinner is time for fireside or tubside relaxing and conversation.

 

·         Frog Meadow also has a full gym that is available throughout the weekend.

Bring Along Your favorite beverages for the weekend and snacks to share on Friday night.

Price & Reservations The price of $188 per person includes 2 nights lodging with full country breakfast each morning, dinner Saturday night and full access to the amenities at Frog Meadow from Friday arrival through Sunday departure.

This package price is based on double occupancy (two people per queen or king-size bed); note that a single occupancy option is available for $299 for those who snore or would prefer not to share a bed/room.

Please make your reservation directly with Frog Meadow (802.365.7242). This will allow you to the room you prefer and to use a credit/debit card for payment. 50% of the $188 will be due at the time of reservation; the balance is due a week prior to the event. In the event of cancellations, I will keep a waiting list.
