The trip report

Seven of us walked about 3.5 miles, round trip, up to Elliot Tower and back to our cars parked at Houghtons Pond. Then 4 of us headed a few miles down Rt 138 to 99 for a bite to eat. It was a decent day that was predicted just the day before to be a rain out.

About this event

We'll leave from Houghton's Pond Parking Lot at 10:30 for the 3.5 mile loop hike to Elliot Tower where views of the Boston skyline can be seen. The autumn colors should be close to full bloom. The Blue Hills offer more of a challenge than is generally expected for a location this close to a major city. We'll hike at a moderate pace with a longer break at Elliott Tower. You should have decent footwear, a warm layer to add on and some water. Cookies to share are always a nice addition too!  We will be back at the cars by 1:30 or so. If you'd like to join us, we'll probably do lunch somewhere local. This hike will be cancelled if there is foul weather. I can pick people up at the Forest Hills T stop. If you need directions to Houghton Pond, just let me know. rocketmandan@yahoo.com
