Mt Adams Hike
Lesson learned: always bring gloves; warm ones.
The trip report
We had a nice easy walk up Air Line Trail. We were treated to a spectacular view once we got above tree line. Then things got ugly; high winds, snow and freezing temperatures. We made our way to Madison Hut and took shelter on the leeward side, and discovered interesting ways to warm our hands. 'had a little snack and decided to skip Mt Adams and make for Madison summit instead (1/2 mile closer).
We summitted amid high winds and limited visibility. No sooner did we turn to descend than the sun came out and the snow stopped. We had an amazing view on the way down.
Will reshedule Mt Adams for next summer (Like July!)

About this event
I'm planning to hike Mt Adams via Air Line Trail on Sunday October 11th. Mt Adams (5,774 ft) is the 2nd highest peak in the White Mts. The Air Line trail is the most direct route, 8.6 miles ,round trip. It's a fairly strenuous hike but we should be rewareded with great views! We'll stop off at the Madison Hut on the way up just to see if there are any cute guys there. We'll meet at Appalachia parking area on Rte 2 at 9am on Sunday Oct 11th. Rain cancels.
Mt Adams is fairly exposed so make sure to bring appropriate layers as it may be pretty raw up there.
Directions to Appalachia parking area.
We'll meet at 9am. I'll be driving a black Honda Civic.
