About this event

This will be an un-official tour of Nantucket. We will meet at the Steamship Authority at the South Street Dock in Hyannis at 7:30 AM to catch the 8:00 AM Fast Ferry. We arrive in Nantucket at 9:00 and start the bike tour at 9:30. Round trip cost for bike and passenger is $77.00. ($65.00 without bike) Resevations are highly recomended - http://www.steamshipauthority.com/ssa/ The site also has directions to the dock and outlying parking areas.

We will bike from 9:30 AM to about 5:00 PM, plan on 25 miles, most of the road will be paved bike path but we will also have some packed sand roads and there will be several stops. We will be seeing Monomoy, Shimmo, Quaise, Altar Rock, Polpis Harbor, (Lunch Break at one or between these two) Cranberry Bogs, Sesachacha Pond, Sankaty, Cod Fish Park, 'Sconset, Tom Nevers, The Kennedy Bunker, Marcy & Washing Ponds, with the option to include Brant Point and then back to the dock. The return boat leaves Nantucket at 6:00 PM and arrives in Hyannis at 7:00 PM.

Bike rentals are available on the Island from a either Youngs Bike Shop (www.youngsbicycleshop.com) or Nantucket Bike shop (www.nantucketbikeshop.com) , both within 2-3 minutes walk from the boat dock.

This is also the day of the Nantucket Cranberry Festival at the Milestone Cranberry Bogs - see the cranberry harvest in progress. Hay rides, tours of the bogs, samples of cranberry products and refreshments. Meet a few of the Nantucket Conservation Foundation's sheep. :-))
