Q-MoB Hike: Guilder Pond Trail
Guilder Pond Hike - Mount Everett State Reservation
Details
Guilder Pond is the second highest pond in Massachusetts at 2048 feet and features a relatively easy hike of old growth, spectacular views of Mt. Everett, wetlands, & lots of unique eco-systems. This relatively short loop circumnavigates the pond.
DIRECTIONS: Begin at the gate at Mt Everett Road just off East Street. Park near the gate indicated in the latitude/longitude trailhead location: 42.103509, -73.453361.
Beyond the gate we will hike along a gravel road that ascends through lush forests, never very steeply but enough to get your blood pumping. As you enter a hemlock grove, sounds of a small waterfall in the woods to your left will indicate you are nearing Guilder Pond. At the .65 mile point, turn left at the sign for the Guilder Pond Trail. The trail will be blazed in blue.
