Bike to the Activity Day (E. Bay Path)
Scenic coastal Rhode Island bike ride
Details
Join me for a leisurely bike ride along the East Bay Bike Path from E. Providence to Colt State Park in Bristol, RI. There we’ll join the Chiltern Mountain Club Fall Activity Day festivities. (There's a nominal $10 charge for the Activity Day.) The path is wide and well-paved, with only a mild incline on the outbound leg. (There *is* one formidable hill at the end of the ride, however!) We’ll bike approximately 21 miles round trip. For those interested in returning as a group, I’ll likely set out on the return trip between 2 and 3 p.m. Or you may return on your own whenever you wish. The path is straight and well-marked. You’re very unlikely to lose the trail. (There are two short detours due to bridge repairs, though.)
Bring sunscreen, a bike helmet and lock, and plenty of fluids. Though there will be a lunch cookout as part of the Fall Activity Day festivities, pack a snack to be safe.
RAIN CANCELS
Note: This ride is being co-listed with Chiltern Mountain Club, a co-ed group. I’ll open up any unclaimed Chiltern slots to GO members a few days before the ride.

IMPORTANT: Please check your bike well before the trip. Make sure your brakes are working and fill your tires if they're low. Check the tires for bulges or other signs of damage. A bulge may mean a weak spot in the tire and/or tube, and an impending flat. In fact, even if your tires seem fine, pack an extra tube if you have one.
Directions
We’ll meet at “lot 1” (across from Mercer St.) on Veteran’s Memorial Parkway in E. Providence, just south of I-195. Look for Neil’s navy blue Toyota Prius with MA plates. If lot 1 is full, as it tends to get in good biking weather, there is at least one other lot a bit further south on Veteran’s Parkway. You can join the group when we arrive there, or meet us at lot 1. Or you can park on one of the side streets, but be sure to check posted parking rules.
