White Cliff

Winter Loop Hike (5.5 miles)

White Cliff

Winter Loop Hike (5.5 miles)

Details

We will hike the Link to its junction with Cliffway.  Along the way we will cross Cold Brook via the Memorial Bridge shown in the picture.  Taking the Cliffway, we will climb to White Cliff (elevation 2484 ft), which has a viewpoint of the mountains to the north.  We will continue on Cliffway crossing Bog Ledge, where we may have a good view of King Ravine from our safer low elevation.  We will then hike Monaway, Amphibrach, and the Link back to our cars.

The Cliffway is lightly used. Back on a Feb hike in 2008, I had to break trail on the Link after Memorial Bridge and on Cliffway to White Cliff.  Thus, bring snowshoes and also traction devices (such as microspikes).  Dress in layers and warm insulated boots.  Pack a lunch and at least 2 liters of water.  Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

Mileage: 5.5 miles

Elevation Gain: about 1250 ft

Estimated Time: 4 ½  to 5 hr

Directions

We will meet at Appalachia parking area on Route 2.
