This 10.4 mile hike will be a south to north trip on the AT from Spivey Gap to the Nolichucky River in NC and Tennessee. The hike will have steep climbs and rock scrambles, which makes it a strenuous hike. We will be traveling along the sides of Flattop Mt. and No Business Knob, and will show the contrasts with moist ravines with hardwood forests and exposed ridges with pine and mountain laurel. Wildflowers are abundant and the 2 mile descent into the Nolichucky Gorge has a wonderful mountain laurel display.

We will reach the No Business Knob shelter at about 4.7 miles which will be a good place for lunch. 

At about 7.8 miles we reach Temple Ridge. From there we begin a 2.5 mile descent to Chestoa Bridge and the Nolichucky River and the end of our hike. On the descent we should see pink lady slippers.

This is a one-way hike and will require an auto shuttle.

We will meet the morning of the hike at the Hardee's restaurant in Erwin, Tennessee. We will be leaving the Hardee's at 9:00 AM sharply for the trailheads, so plan to arrive earlier for directions and breakfast.
