Hike Creaser Park, Games, Food
Easy hike with games and snacks afterwards
Details
Spring is upon us, and for those who need an easy hike to ease into outdoor activities, this event is for you!
The trails within Creaser Park approximate 2 miles of hiking and should take less than an hour. We will be hiking the yellow, red, and blue trails forming a loop. The trails are easy, with some mowed grassy areas through meadows,as well as woodland with some rocks and roots in the path. There is a gradual ascent and decent. It is lovely by the pond and the Skungamaug River. A few low areas can be a bit muddy in the spring, so hiking boots would be good. For those interested in foraging, I will be keeping an eye out for edible mushrooms and spring plants along the trail.
After the hike, let's congregate at my house for games and snacks. Feel free to bring some of both to share. We can also chip in for pizza (Wicked Pizza and Dimitris both have great pizzas). This will also be a great opportunity to talk about what activities we want to lead and participate in for the coming seasons. I would love to see a greater variety of trips around CT for this year.
I have also randomly chosen a start time of 11 AM. If there is a concensus to start earlier or later, I would be happy to change the start time.
Directions
For those coming from Hartford, take I84E to 384, which becomes Rt 44. Take a right onto CT-31 S, and right before the fire station, take a right onto Wrights Mill Rd. Turn left onto Case Rd, and the park will be on your right.
For those coming from Union, CT or Massachusetts, take I84W to exit 68. Turn right onto CT-195 N, left onto Cider Mill Connector, and left onto Cider Mill Rd. Continue straight onto Grant Hill Rd, which becomes CT-31 S. Turn right onto Wrights Mill Rd and left onto Case Rd.
Creaser Park is located on Case Rd, between South River Rd and Wrights Mill Rd.
Meet in the parking lot, which is between the pond and the pavillions. Here is the trail map and information on the park. I will message participants my contact information.
