Details

Leisurely ride along picturesque Rt. 49 to the base lodge of Waterville Valley Ski Area with lunch in town!

This will be a quiet ride alongside the Mad River...a perfect ride to escape the city! Route 49 into Waterville Valley has a wide shoulder that follows the scenie Mad River with not much traffic. The climb to the Base Lodge is gradual with great views of the surrounding mountains.

After we reach the Base Lodge, we'll ride down the hill into town for lunch...most likely Wild Coyote Grill. We will return back to our cars on Route 49. The distance is 23.3 miles with a 1,128 foot elevation gain. Bicycle helmet required and make sure you have a water bottle.

Our route begins at the Northway Bank on Route 49 in Campton. There is a bike rental shop next door. They might only rent mountain bikes...will know more once they open. I'll post more info a month before the ride.

The roads are all paved so you can use a road bike. I rarely ride a bike. This ride is not being led by some sort of expert. I'll be using a mountain bike so I would be going slower than if someone were to use a road bike. I'm just saying. :)

Directions

Take I-93 and use Exit 28. At the end of the ramp take a right onto Rte 49 East for about 1 mile and turn right into the Northway Bank parking lot. I'll be driving a blue Toyota FJ Cruiser.

If you are renting, get to the bike rental shop a half hour early, 10:30 am, so you'll be ready to leave with us for 11:00am. The bike rental shop is on the right shortly after Northway Bank and you can park your car in their parking lot. Take your bike and ride to the Northway Bank parking lot to meet us.
