Weekday birding at Wakodahatchee

Weekday birding at Wakodahatchee Thursday March 31

Details

The Everglades are flooded so where have the  water birds gone?  Palm Beach County!  We will meet at Wakodahatchee at the entrance gate at 10: 30, water birds are busy all day so no need to get up at dawn.  Directions: I 95 to Atlantic Avenue west in Delray, continue to Jog Road, park is on the right at 13026 Jog Road, Delray Beach.  You can leave whenever you want but I will probably be there at least 1 1/2 hours.  We may also go to Green Cay a few miles away to see more.  RAIN CANCELS  more info:  http://www.pbcgov.com/waterutilities/wakodahatchee/location.htm

Expect to see Wood storks, anhingas and cormorants nesting, roseate spoonbills, various herons etc.  It is a small but densely populated wetland so you won't have to hunt to see lots and lots of birds.

You need hat/sun protection, water, maybe a snack, bug spray but there aren't many mosquitoes, and binoculars... but even if you don't have them you will still see a lot of birds up close.
