4th of July Weekend at GO Center

Swimming, BBQ, Fireworks, Webster Slide/Wachipauka Pond Hike & Swim and Phillip Phillips Concert at Meadowbrook!

Details

Swimming, BBQ, Fireworks, Webster Slide/Wachipauka Pond Hike & Swim and Phillip Phillips Concert at Meadowbrook! Celebrate Fourth of July with us by choosing the events you would like to participate in.

Friday, July 4th: We'll meet at the GO Center to sunbathe and soak in the Mad River. [Swim trunks required]. Bring a small cooler of your favorite beverages, lawn chair and towel. You will have to ford a narrow section of the river to access our 'rock beach' so definitely wear sandals or old sneakers to cross. There is a swimming hole that is chest high to cool off in.

Afterwards we'll have a BBQ off our deck [$5 per person] and then later on drive to Waterville Valley to watch their fireworks display. You are welcome to spend the night in one of our bunk beds at $20 per person. Email us if you would like a bunk.

Saturday, July 5th: We'll take moderate 6.5 mile hike up Webster Slide and Wachipauka Pond at 10AM. Wear swim trunks for this hike, pack a towel in your pack and make sure you bring water and lunch. Hiking boots are required for your comfort and safety.

Afterwards you have the option to join us at the Meadowbrook Concert Pavillion to see Phllip Phillips, O.A.R. and Saints of Valory. Jon and I have already purchased our tickets to the concert but we can carpool, tailgate and hangout together until the show starts. Tickets run from $50 to lawn seats at $23. Click here to purchase tickets. If you are joining us for the concert, you are welcome to spend the night in one of our bunk beds at $20 per person. Email us if you would like a bunk.

Sunday, July 6th: After breakfast, we meander once more down to the Mad River for sunbathing and river soaking to wrap up the weekend.

When you register, under comments, please indicate which activities you plan on doing with us.

Directions

If you plan being with us July 4th for sunbathing/soaking on the Mad River followed by the BBQ and fireworks, we'll email you directions to our house. Again, we need to know beforehand that you'll be joining us July 4th so we have enough food for everyone.

If you plan to join us for the hike on Saturday only, here are the directions: Take 93 North to Exit 26 to US 3/NH 25. Follow 4.3 miles to the traffic circle and bear right continuing on NH 25. Travel 20 miles on NH 25 to Glencliff, NH. The Wachipauka Pond traihead [also the Appalachian Trail with white blazes] is on NH 25, 0.6 mile west of the Glencliff, NH post office and 1.4 miles west of the junction of NH 25 and NH 112. There is an obvious dirt parking area along the road. We'll be driving a blue FJ Cruiser.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for joining us! We are not comfortable leaving the house unattended while we are the concert so the best we can do is reserve you a bunk for Friday night only.
Gandalf · May 26, 2014
Hi Jeff, You can camp with a tent on our property if you like but I think you'll be more comfortable in a bunk. I'm assuming you'll be only be with us for Friday night unless you got tickets to the concert.
Gandalf · May 26, 2014
We are located in Waterville Valley and will provide specific directions to our house a few days before. There is a link to the concert on this page with all the details about the bands and venue.

Is anyone getting lawn tickets for the Phillip Phillips concert? I would either like to sit on the lawn or in Phillip's lap.
Gandalf · May 27, 2014
Now you know the real reason we are going to see Phillip Phillips...LOL. Not only is he cute but also a very good performer. Jon and I saw him at Meadowbrook last year with John Mayer. Phillip Phillips was way better than John Mayer...more energy, has a Dave Matthews Band jam vibe to his live songs and is very different than what you saw on American Idol.

Thanks for the great response! All the bunks have now been taken for those of you who requested one. You are most welcome to still sign up for our day events: July 4th Mad River Soak&Sun, BBQ, Fireworks and/or July 5th Hike&Swim.

weather appears to be good for Saturday and looks like I'll be coming up for the hike from Boston area.
Gandalf · Jul 4, 2014
Looks like a rainy day so I see no point making an attempt to come over the house for swimming by the river. Instead, let's make 5pm our rendezvous time for the BBQ...hopefully outdoors! The fireworks have not been cancelled so hopefully the weather will improve this evening.
JR · Jul 4, 2014
I'll have to bow out. Look forward to another event. Have fun this evening!
