Details
Celebrate Gay Pride by wearing your rainbow colors and pride beads with a hike up of two of Mt. Washington's sub-peaks: Boot Spur [5,492'] and Slide Peak [4,760']! We'll unfurl the rainbow flag at the summit and take a group shot. The climb up Boot Spur is magnificent with great views of Tuckerman and Hungtington Ravine, the Wildcats, Carter-Moriah Range and southern Presidentials. Total distance is 8 miles, 3700 feet elevation gain and will take 7.5 hours.
We will start at Pinkham Notch Visitor Center, climb the Boot Spur Trail which ascends 3,500 feet in 2.5 miles and forms the southern wall of Tuckerman's Ravine. From there we'll head south on the Davis Path and descend via the Glen Boulder Trail passing over Slide Peak, to the Diretissimma Trail which leads back to the Pinkham Notch lot.
Travel above treeline offers unique challenges to any hiker. Please have the appropriate gear/clothing to travel above treeline [rain shell] and the appropriate amount of layers to keep your core body warm. Carry at least 3 liters of water, lunch and snacks.
After The Hike: Bring a change of clothes because afterwards we'll have dinner at the Red Fox Grill in Jackson, NH.
Lodging Option: Bunk beds are available at our house near Waterville Valley, NH for Friday and Saturday night for $20 per night. Coffee/bagels each morning and linen/blankets/towels are provided. We have limited space in the fridge to store your beverages/food so it's best to bring a small cooler. Space is limited so email me ASAP to reserve a bunk!
Directions
From North Conway, follow NH 16 through the towns of Glen and Jackson. Park at the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center, 11.7 miles north of the junction of US 302 and NH 16 in Glen. We'll meet you at the porch of the Visitor Center wearing GO hats.
