First Water Day Hike

Mt. Wilson Trail to First Water

First Water Day Hike

Mt. Wilson Trail to First Water

Details

The short, steep, hike to First Water climbs a trail once used by Gabrielino Indians. Today it goes from Sierra Madre all the way to Mt. Wilson. Don't worry...we're just hiking the trail's first scenic leg. Our destination... First Water...is shady dell, where in even dry years (like this), a small creek gurgles. It's a 1.5 mile climb from the trailhead. Here we'll have a snack, and poke around in the rocks and pools.

Directions

We will congregate in front of Lizzie's ...once an old inn... and now a hiker's museum adjacent to Mt. Wilson Park. To get there exit the 210 freeway at Baldwin Ave and head north through "downtown" Sierra Madre. Turn right on Sierra Madre.  Lizzie's is at the corner of Mira Monte and Mt. Wilson trail. Street parking.

Bring snacks & water. Rain cancels.
