Delaware River Tubbing

River Tubing on the Delaware River

Delaware River Tubbing

River Tubing on the Delaware River

Details

Tubing down the Delaware River on Sunday., August 11th at 11AM! We will take the 3 hour tubing trip (which means by the time we pay, they bus us up the river and we float down it will be about 3 PM till we get back to our cars (so eat a nice breakfast so you are not hungry on the way down)

Meet at:
River Country, Point Pleasant/Pipersville, PA (about 8 to 10 miles north of New Hope, PA off of River Rd/Rte.32...the road that heads north from New Hope along the Del. River).  You have to use " 2 Walters  Lane, Pipersville, PA 18947" to mapquest it or track the place on a  GPS. If you go to their website they provide a great map and show if any roads have detours, etc. (note below under directions that part of Rte 32 that runs along the river is close, there is a map on their web page with the detour info.)

We will all meet at 11AM  at the picnic tables (near the changing rooms and rest rooms), which are just on the right hand side of the parking lot as you drive in. Get their early so we can get coordinated please. We don't want to hold everyone up. I will give my cell phone number to those that sign up for the trip. If we don't hear from you and we are ready to go, we will have to depart without you.

You should wear some old sneakers or water shoes just in case the water is low and the rocks are rough on your feet. You may want to wear sun screen, maybe even wear an old shirt if it is super sunny as at points on the river there isn't much shade, may want to bring a change of clothes for later and a towel to keep in your car. Note that you will need to check your keys with the tubing company (they have some kind of arrangement there  to leave keys for a small fee), or put them in my locked car for free.  Go to their website  and print the coupon good for $2 off. The regular rate is $26 each minus your $2 coupon = $24 per person.

Also note that there is a  parking fee of $5 at their lot (no other parking around either), so get your friends together and car pool if you can

Afterwards you are welcome to join us at a  restaurant  across the river in Lambertville, NJ (Buddies). Later some folks may be heading back into New Hope , PA  (a very friendly GLBTI  tourist town) if you want to go to catch a drink.

Directions

Note that there is a closure on River Rd (rte 32) between Rte 263/Bridge St. coming from Stockton,NJ at "Dilly's Corner Ice Cream" & Greenhill Rd. See their web page for a map of the detour at http://www.rivercountry.net/july2013_detour.html
