Burke mountain slope side house 02/01-03

Ski house on one of New England's best kept secret, Burke mountain 02/01 - 02/03/13

Details

The ski house is called the Colberg and can be virtually toured at Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 http://www.burkemill.com/professional10.shtml  I currently have seven going and need a few more to keep the cost down in the $300's range.

The 13 minute slow chairlift was replaced two summers ago with a nice fast 7 minute lift.  I booked in March last year and there was no snow and had to cancel.  This season I booked in early February back in October since there are a limited number of ski houses on the mountain.

The ski house is $1635 for two nights that sleeps 12 to 14 people.  If a dozen go, it’s $290 - 320 for two nights, two day lift ticket, food and booze.  Two day lift ticket ~$90.  Food & cocktails for 8 -12 people~$800.  It’s always less with a larger crowd, for example, for 12 people, this comes to about $13 per person per meal, including apres' cocktails and wine.  So join in the fun.

Details from Liftopia that is currently having a two discount for $94

(I can probably do about $5 – 15 less over the phone):

With every inch of its 2011' of vertical, Burke Mountain believes in all that made Vermont skiing famous. So we've foregone wider, flatter trails, and the wider, flatter skiers they cater to, for trails and glades that respect the mountain's natural contours. And we don't rate tough blues as blacks or anything close to a green as a blue. Up North, you earn it. Not everybody gets a trophy, a mentality we observed watching more than 56 Olympians learn to be great at the world-renowned Burke Mountain Academy. But we want to exclude no one. So if you can't ski or ride any of our 56 trails or 100+ acres of glades, we'll teach you. After all, we believe everyone should experience what Vermont skiing and riding is all about.

My experience at Burke is as follows:

- Burke may look like a small, but it is over 2000 feet vertical.  It is a place where one can ski or ride to the bottom in perfect scenic adrenaline bliss without so much as anyone getting in your way.
- Never any lines and the trails are very diverse.
The trails have an interesting change in pitch and their trails are rated lower than other mountians.  An intermediate trail at Burke is similar to an expert trail at Loon.
- Mid-Burke Lodge has fantastic views of Willowby Gap as do most of the runs and a wood burning fireplace.

- Wood burning fireplace is always good.  We needed one this past weekend at The Loaf when it was in the teens.

- It is not a condo,  but a private house in the woods.
