End-of-Year Fresh Air at First Landing

Join us for an End-of-Year hike at First Landing SP in Virginia Beach, VA.

Details

First Landing is the most visited SP in Virginia providing possibilities for a variety of outdoor activities. It’s a place with swampy areas, bald cypresses, Spanish moss and even with some of highest natural points in the Tidewater area. There are also sand dunes and a part of the Chesapeake Bay beach included there too. For more info about the park check http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/fir.shtml.

For our hike, we’ll meet near by the visitor center located in the Western part of the park - please use the park entrance at Shore Dr. We're thinking of hiking a combination of Bald Cypress, Cape Henry, White Hill Lake, Fox Run and High Dune trails which would be about 6-7 miles hike however, this can be modified accordingly to the interest of the participants and the weather conditions (there are 9 trails with about 20 miles to hike in the park). Park entrance fee is $5.00/vehicle. If there is an interest, we can go for a drink after the hike.

Directions

From I-64, take Northampton Blvd.-U.S. 13 North (Exit 282). Drive through eight lights, then turn right at the Shore Drive/U.S. 60 exit (last exit before the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel). Take a right on Shore Drive and drive four and a half miles to the park entrance.
