Halfway Pond Hike

A late Fall hike through the largest conservation area on the South Shore

Details

Join me and a local friend for a hike around Halfway Pond and a soup social afterwards on Long Pond. We will hike 5 miles around the shores of the pond and through the conservation areas surrounding it. Halfway Pond has over 95 percent of it's 3 mile shoreline protected by private and public conservation lands and is one of the best protected areas in Southeastern MA. It is also bordered by the Myles Standish State Forest and the recently aquired Fish and Wildlife lands along the Agawam River. Check out the link for the Halfway Pond Conservation Area on the Wildlands Trust website. http://www.wildlandstrust.org/tabid/210/Default.aspx

Near the end of the hike participants have been invited back to the pond side home of a local friend for soup and some social time.

Directions

We will meet at noon at the Long Pond Boat Ramp on West Long Pond Road. Take Route 3 to Exit 3. At the end of the ramp head west on Clark Road. For those coming from the north it will be a right at the end of the ramp. For those coming from the south it will be left. Follow Clark Road west a short distance to a Stop Sign where it meets Long Pond Road. Go across Long Pond Road diagonally to the left to continue on Clark Road. At the end of Clark Road look to your left and you will see Long Pond. Head left down the hill to the boat ramp and meet me at the parking area on the right.
