Jennings Peak hike

Hike of Jennings Peak in Waterville Valley

Details

Join us for this beautiful hike of Jennings Peak in Waterville Valley. This hike will be a 7.2 mile loop with about 2500 feet of elevation gain, with a steep first part of the hike, but a nice genle return.

We will start off going up the steeper Sandwich Mountain trail with a stream crossing that could be difficult in high water. The Sandwich Mountain trail will go up steeply until Noon Peak, where we will be rewarded with a great view over to Mount Washington on a clear day. From Noon Peak, the trail goes along the ridge, and shortly after the intersection with the Drakes Brook trail we wlll take the Jenning Peak spur trail to the top of Jennings Peak to have lunch. There are great views in all directions, probably better views here than at nearby Sandwich Mountain. If there is unanimous consensus, we could add on one mile each way to Sandwich Mountain, but we will probably just have Jennings Peak be our destination without Sandwich Mountain. After Jennings Peak, we will head down the gentle Drakes Brook trail back to the trailhead, passing by a stream for most of the lower part of Drakes Brook trail.

After the hike, we will probably go to the coffee shop in Waterville Valley town square for those that are interested.

Directions

From I-93 get off onto Route 49 toward Waterville Valley. Stay on Route 49 eleven miles to the trailhead which is on the right, just before the town of Waterville Valley. We will be driving a green Honda Civic with a GO bumper sticker, and we will also be wearing green GO tshirts.
