<p>A short weekday walk on the Les Clark Nature Trail in Concord with a visit to the SPNHF headquarters.</p> <p></p>

Details

Join me for a short weekday walk on the Les Clark Nature Trail in Concord, NH.  This will be about a 1.5 mile casual walk along the bank of the Merrimack River near the headquarters of The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests.  With a little luck we may catch glimpses of many wintering waterfowl and some mammals.
Difficulty: easy
Length: roughly 1.5 miles
Duration: about an hour
Terrain: riverside nature trail, flood plain, river bank
Walking pace: casual wildlife observance pace
Trail information: www.concordnh.gov/trails/concordv2.asp?siteindx=C50,50,60,30
SPNHF Conservation Center: www.forestsociety.org/ourproperties/ac-conservation-center.asp
Please bring proper clothing and gear for being outside just over an hour along the side of a wide river.  You may want to bring a drink and your camera along.  Since this is a nature trail meant for wildlife viewing dogs will not be permitted to come.
After the walk we can visit the SPNHF headquarters just up the road and follow a self guided tour of their environmentally green building.  The building is open only on weekdays.

Directions

Take 93 to exit 16. Take a right at the lights onto Eastman Street. Continue to Portsmouth Street and follow the brown and white “Conservation Center” signs. The parking lot will be on the right after a small bridge. I will be driving a gray Toyota Tacoma.

I plan on doing several more short walks this spring and summer all focused within the city of Concord. Some will be weekday walks around 6pm when the sun sets late and longer walks/hikes may be on a weekend. If your new to GO, or worried about getting stuck on a trip too big for you this is a great opportunity to become active. Come join me!
