Winter Hiking Bavarian Alps

Hiking Bavarian Alps following the steps of gay king Louis II

Details

We will follow the steps of King Louis II of Bavaria and hike to his mountain lodges in the alps. Louis had some royal lodges at special places up in the mountains. He loved these places because of their beautiful and sceneric views and because they are romanticaly hidden.
At night he went up there in a huge golden sleigh or coach and spent some days in the lodges with his favourite guys.

The Kings servant had to travel around Europe and to look after attractive young men and to take photos from them. Then Louis choosed his favourites and invited them to spend some days or weeks with him in his mountain lodges or castles. The boys were mostly from poor farmer families and got money if they followed the kings invitation.

We will visit these mountain lodges and walk to Jagschloß Schachen (1800 meters height), to Brunnenkopfhäusern (1600 meters height), to Soiernhaus and to Pürschlinghaus (1550 meters height).

We will also visit his famous castles Neuschwanstein und Linderhof. Linderhof should be the most gay and crazy castle in the world. In its park we will see the famous Hunding Hütte, a hut which is a copy of a hut from a opera of Wagner. This hut has a huge fire-place and a big tree which is growing through the roof. In this hut Louis had his famous " Boys parties" .

We will also visit an old monastery in a mountain valley, go by cable car to Germany highest mountain Zugspitze and visiting Partnachklamm, a famous canyon in the mountains. If weather will be clear we are planning to go in a small airplane from a friend of mine along the alps.
In the evening we will relax in a sauna.

The hikes/walks will be from 4 to 5 hours. They are moderate level. But we dont hike each day, there will be also sightseeing days for the castles, visiting thermal baths etc
