Join us for wander of the island and a (4.5 miles) hike on the Northridge trail/Sunset trail as we ascend to the peak of the island for an amazing 360 degree view of the bay.
Let's make sure to stop by the re-opened immigration/internment center to find out about the island's complicated history as a gateway for many immigrants of Asian descent to the US.
Also gives us a chance to scope out camping possibilities. There are some great tent sites on the island!
The ferry ride over ($16 round trip) from Pier 41 in San Francisco (leaves at 11:45am) itself is a treat. The ferry back to SF from the island leaves at 4:40pm.
***MEET US AT PIER 39, WHERE THEY SELL THE TICKETS BY 11:15am and we will walk over to Pier 41 for the Ferry launch together.***
Take BART/Muni if you can. The F line Muni runs right there. If you are coming by BART you can pick up the F line Muni next to the Embarcadero BART station in front of the Ferry Building.
