Tuckerman's Ravine Lunch Rocks Party

We'll be hiking into Tuckerman's to watch those crazy skiers do suicidal runs down the face of the Ravine!

Details

We'll be hiking into Tuckerman's to watch those crazy skiers/riders do suicidal runs down the face of the Ravine!

Come join us and bring your "lunch" for a group hike into the Ravine. We'll park ourselves at Lunch Rocks midway into the Ravine to party and watch the skiers/riders do their thing!

The hike is routine up the very wide Tuckerman's Ravine Trail. We'll go beyond Hermit Lake Shelter on up to the Lunch Rocks where we can get the best views of skiers/riders. Bring your sun screen, insulated sitting pad, beer/wine, binoculars, and your munchies to enjoy some entertaining action.

We'll meet at the Pinkham Notch AMC camp on the porch [I'll be wearing a Patriots hat] at the base of the mountain and proceed to the Ravine. Give yourself extra time because you'll have to park far away and walk a good distance to meet us at 10AM.

Distance: 6.2 miles
Elevation Gain: 2500 feet
Estimated Time: 6 Hours

Carpooling: Contact other members to carpool, share the conversation and travel expenses. Contact us if you want to carpool with us from Exit 28.

Cell Phone #: Will be provided to participants in an email.

After The Hike: We'll either have a BBQ back on my deck at my house in Waterville Valley. It's BYOB and about $5 per person for food costs. Bring a change of clothes. I have lots of towels and everyone can take showers to clean up.

Lodging Option: I have 8 bunks available with linen for both Friday and Saturday nights at my house in Waterville Valley for $20 [each night]. You can use the kitchen facilities and store beverages/food in the fridge. I serve coffee in the morning and a continental breakfast. Contact me to RSVP. SPACE IS LIMITED TO EIGHT GUYS.

Come join us for a non-technical hike, but if you are brave, bring your skis/snowboard as well!!!

Directions

Tuckerman Ravine Trail starts at the Trading Post at Pinkham Notch Visitor Center in Pinkham's Grant, NH. The Visitor Center is located on Rt. 16, about 20 miles north of Conway and 11 miles south of Gorham.

It was great to see this spring rite of passage for real - up to this time, I had only seen pictures of it. However, you did need to be on the watch for "runaway" skis and snowboards while sitting on "Lunch Rocks." Thanks Mike and Jon for organizing the hike!
