Mt. Adams On Winter's Last Day

Late Breaking opportunity to enjoy Mt. Adams (5799') on a true "Presi Day"!

Details

This coming Sunday the 20th bodes to be a picture-perfect "Presidentials Day" - sunny and breezy. Let's take advantage of this and share the last day of winter atop Mt. Adams, the largest White Mountain of them all, with over 4400' of elevation gain! (Washington's summit is 500 feet taller, but its direct trails start from 700 feet or more higher up). Via Lowe's Path, we'll be hiking a round-trip distance of 8 miles. Though it's almost spring, winter is still going strong in the Whites, so be sure to bring full winter gear (see the 'Gear List' link at the bottom of this page), including snowshoes and crampons. Bring plenty of energy food, along with 2-3 litres of water/gatorade. Depending on group interest, we'll reflect on our day over beer or dinner afterwards.

Directions

We will meet at the Lowe's general store/gas station on Rt. 2 in Randolph, NH (small parking fee). From Concord, NH, head 74 miles north on I-93 to Rt. 3, at Exit 35. Take Rt. 3 north for 12.4 miles, and turn right onto Rt. 115. In 9.7 miles, Rt. 115 ends by hitting Rt. 2. Turn right (east) on Rt. 2. Lowe's Store will be on the left in approximately 5 miles. We plan to be ready to start hiking at 8am, so plan on arriving earlier if you need some time to get your pack ready, put on your shell clothes, boots, etc..
