Palm Beach Island Bike Trip

Leisurely bike ride along the great mansions of Palm Beach

Details

We will meet at the Bandshell in Lake Worth's Bryant Park, and then bike over the Lake Avenue bridge onto A1A , then all the way up to the very northern tip of Palm Beach Island, and back to where we started. The total round trip mileage will be about 26 miles over flat terrain. The only "tough" section will be going over the Lake Avenue bridge (over the Intracoastal) which does have a moderate incline. The rest of the trip will be along the beach, or along Lake Worth/Intracoastal, which will offer great views, and cooling breezes. Except for the 4.7 mile stretch of the Palm Beach Bike Trail, this trip will be along A1A which can be quite busy. Come prepared, bring a helmet, and obey traffic rules. The portion of this trip that goes over the Palm Beach Bike Trail, however, will be car free. Bring water, lunch, and snacks. We will stop at some point along the way for a relaxing lunch. Upon our return, there will be an option to go swimming at Lake Worth beach (the Casino has changing rooms), and afterwards we can go to dinner at one of the wonderful local restaurants.

Directions

Directions to Bryant Park: From US 1/Dixie Highway, go east on Lake Avenue and go through Lake Worth's downtown. Bryant Park will be on the Intracoastal on your right as the downtown ends, and at the point where Lake Avenue goes over the bridge. The bandshell is quite obvious once you enter the park, and we will be waiting in front of it. There is metered parking on Lakeside and on Lake Avenue, but you can also find un-metered parking on any of the Lake Worth residential side streets.
