Burnt Meadows Mt. hike

Enjoy a moderate but short late fall hike up Burnt Meadow Mtn to be rewarded by views in all directions

Details

We'll go uphill about 2 1/2 miles in and out through woods and over rocks to the summit which is about 1,200' in elevation. We may find remnants of an abandoned ski operation along the trail.

As this time, it could be rather cold. It is recomended warm clothing be worn or brought to be added. Cotton is not recommended

Ater the hike, if any are interested, we'll get pizza from a good place, go back to my place and chill. Although it's a work in progress, it's well heated and equiped with composter toilet and portable shower. There's woods out back to take a short walk in if the hike was too short. Caution: It's hunting season.

For those who have come a long distance for hike or have consumed adult beverages while chilling, there is space to throw down a sleeping bag on a cot, couch, or floor and you are welcome to spend the night, no charge.

This is a hike that was postponed because the only other member signed up was too sick to join me. It's a second chance for us to enjoy a late fall hike before we have to get out our snowshoes..

Directions

From the Portland area, head west on 25 through Standish to 113. Take right onto 113 and follow until it intercepts with 160 in Brownfield. Take left and go through Brownfield. Stay on 160.Watch for small boat launching space on left. The parking lot to the trailhead is a small dirt lot on your right just beyond the boat launch. There is no sign so it is easy to miss. I'll be there in a siver-gray Explorer with loon plates.

One of the best ways to reach trailhead from the west is take 302 from N.Conway into Fryeburg where you'll take right towards Brownfield. There you'll go right onto 160 and go as above.
