Didn't get to visit the Twins with GO for the Flags on the 48 observance last September? Want Galehead? Just want to enjoy a great ridge hike on the edge of the Pemigewasset Wilderness Area? Whatever, come join us on this open loop hike over the summits of three 4,000-footers (N. Twin, S. Twin, and Galehead). We'll also be visiting Galehead Hut and a section of the rugged Garfield Ridge. We'll hike at a moderate pace, covering 12 miles and 3600' of vertical gain. We'll meet up at the Gale River Trailhead at 8:30am to spot cars, and will likely complete the hike around 5:00pm.  As the time draws near and the weather forecast starts to take shape, I'll be in touch with everyone to discuss gear and make final plans.

At 8:30am, we will meet at the Gale River Trailhead to spot cars. From Concord, NH, head 74 miles north on I-93 to Rt. 3, at Exit, 35. Take Rt. 3 north. In approximately 5 miles, you will come to a 5-way intersection. Turn R on Gale River Rd (FR 25), bearing left at 0.6 miles, and turning sharp right onto the Gale River Loop Rd (FR 92) at 1.3 miles. The Gale River trailhead parking will be on the left in another 0.3 miles. From Concord, allow 1.5 hours of driving time.
