Details
Hike two 4,000 footers, Wildcat D (4, 062') and Wildcat A (4,422') with magnificent views of Mt. Washington and the Presidential Range.
Total Distance: 8.7 miles
Elevation Gain: 3,150 feet
Amount of time: 7 hours
Park Fee: $3 per vehicle WMNF Parking Fee
Hike Description: There are fine and superb views from the many ledges of Wildcat Ridge. Wildcat A provides a spectacular view into Carter Notch.
The trail is very steep and rough on Wildcat Ridge to Carter Notch, and there are several ups and downs that make it more difficult and time-consuming than one might infer from a casual glance at the map or the distance summary. Once at Carter Notch, the remaining 3.6 miles is a gradual descent following the Nineteen-Mile Brook. We'll use the Wildcat Ridge and Nineteen Mile Brook Trails by spotting cars.
Be prepared for winter conditions so dress in warm layers, fleece hat and gloves. Wear hiking boots and carry a day pack with lunch, snacks and at least 2 liters of water. Don't forget a nylon or gore-tex shell for wind and rain protection.
Carpool Info: Contact other members who signed up to share costs and comraderie! Contact us if you would like to carpool with us from the Exit 28 Post Office off of I-93.
Directions: We will meet at 9AM at the Nineteen Mile Brook Trailhead to spot cars. Click Here For Directions From Your House.
After The Hike: Bring a change of clothes because we'll have a dinner at this great pub in Jackson.
Lodging Option: Lodging available the night before and after the trip at my house in Waterville Valley for $20 each night. Cost includes a continental breakfast with coffee. Accommodations are dormitory style bunk beds. Hot showers, bed linen, towels, soap, shampoo, full use of the kitchen and fireplace is included. No need to bring a sleeping bag. RSVP IS REQUIRED.
Trip Leaders: Mike Boisvert and Jon Normand
