Vose Spur & Mt. Nancy Backpack

A backcountry backpack into the Pemigewasset Wilderness

Details
Join me for this overnight backcountry backpack, where we'll be hiking into Carrigan Notch to scramble up Vose Spur (3862') and Mt. Nancy (3926'). Both of these are considered trailless, but they do have herd paths. NOTE: Portions of these may be bushwacks and the slide up to Vose Spur is steep (we'll drop pack to do both of these two peaks). There are good views into the wilderness from both of these peaks. We'll also be visiting Norcross and Nancy Ponds, as well as the Nancy Cascades, an impressive waterfall.
Saturday we'll take the Signal Ridge and Carrigan Notch trails to Vose Spur (~ 4 miles), drop pack and ascend Vose Spur (~2 miles RT) and proceed into the Pemigewasset Wilderness to camp overnight (~2 miles). On Sunday we'll continue on the Nancy Pond Trail to Norcross Pond and Mt. Nancy (~2.6 miles), ascend Nancy (~2.5 miles RT) and continue to the trailhead on Rte. 302 (~4.5 miles). Total mileage is approximately 17.5 miles for the 2 days.
Trailhead: We'll meet up at the Nancy Pond Trailhead on Rte. 302 (just past the Notchland Inn on the west side of the road), leave at least one car and proceed to the Sawyer River Road Trailhead, where we'll begin the trip.
Required Clothing and Equipment: Sturdy hiking boots with thick socks, synthetic, wickable clothing (convertible pants are highly recommended since some of this will be a bushwack), rain gear, backpack, tent, sleeping bag and pad, single burner stove and gas, toilettries, pack cover, headlamp with spare batteries, water and food for snacks, breakfast, 2 lunches and dinner. Optionally, sunscreen and bug repellent and anything else you'll need for an overnight trip are also recommended.
NOTE: We'll be doubling up on tents to minimize the impact on the wilderness. You'll need to carry at least 2 liters of water. We'll be able to treat and resupply along the way.
The trip should be complete by early afternoon on Sunday.
